Tron founder Justin Sun has confirmed he will attend a May 22 gala dinner organized for top TRUMP memecoin holders and hosted by US President Donald Trump.
In a May 20 post on X, Sun said he was invited to the exclusive event and expressed gratitude and support for the US president.
He said:
“Honored to support POTUS and grateful for the invitation from [the TRUMP memecoin team] to attend President Trump’s Gala Dinner as his TOP fan.”
The TRUMP memecoin team had launched a competition to reward the top 220 token holders with access to the event. Of those, the largest 25 holders will gain entry to a private VIP reception with Trump himself.
Sun revealed he was the top-ranking holder, aligning with earlier speculation that he controls the HTX-linked wallet identified as “Sun.” He noted:
“As the top holder of $TRUMP, I’m excited to connect with everyone, talk crypto, and discuss the future of our industry.”
Data from the TRUMP memecoin website showed the “Sun” wallet accumulated more than 1.4 million TRUMP tokens, worth around $18 million, during the competition.
Sun’s US visit
Sun’s confirmed presence in the US surprises many, given past investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Nonetheless, he has been active in Los Angeles in the lead-up to the gala, sharing videos of his visit to the iconic Hollywood sign and the Worldcoin Orbs center in West Hollywood.
The Orbs center offers biometric scanning for blockchain-based digital identity and rewards users with WLD tokens. It is unclear if Sun participated in the eye scan.
Meanwhile, Sun’s appearance in the US further fuels speculation about his growing alignment with Trump-affiliated crypto initiatives. This week, he posted on X that he was ‘all in’ on the USA and that TRX is ‘made in America,’ in a now-deleted post.
Over the past months, the controversial crypto entrepreneur has made significant moves to ingratiate himself with the US president’s crypto venture, World Liberty Financial, through strategic investments. He has also advocated integrating the Trump-linked USD1 stablecoin into the Tron blockchain.
